I'm on a few Google Groups email lists and they seem to work ok, except that
ours were private and you needed invites, and we had a bunch of people who
were somehow unable to get these invites.  Google would work, but my hunch
is a large chunk of users here are not actively reading messages, and a
bunch of others would not make the transition.  I'm sure some would, but I
think we'd lose at least half, if not 3/4 of the membership.  Yahoo can be a
pain at times, but it seems to be intermittant and only for some.  Also,
this isn't Twitter.  We're not talking about things normally that need
immediate attention, so 20 minutes or even a few hours is not going to kill
anyone here, even though it would be optimal to have it all show up
immediately...
