True, the keyboard is a bit smaller vs. the 700p, but you get used to it.
The entire design of the Pre Plus is more compact, but simply elegant.  

Like you, I was a 700p user (for over 4 yrs), and very cautious about
switching to a Pre Plus, but I have no regrets.
