I have had this problem with my tungsten T3 syncing via bluetooth to the v4.x of palm desktop on my desktop.
There is something in the hotsync prefs that you need to do but cant remember what. Sorry but it is definitely fixable in XP Pro so in time i expect you will figure it out.
