I agree you don't need a secondary offsite DNS. I also agree you don't need multiple IPs. I do my own thing with NAT and one ip for skink.net. In fact, I think I have two or three ips, but I use just one. In my case, its easier to pay register.com to be my public DNS server. There is no way I can reach their level of capabilities. Besides, I've never had a ISP which would do zone transfers for me without cost. I run my own DNS for my inside machines, but that doesn't need to be available to the general public. However, I do understand Jason's point of performing "enterprise" level networking for his small office setup. I think as a consultant, he wants to understand/test a setup like he might find out in the wild. After all, as a consultant he wants to get business large and small. I don't think he is only targeting small business's for his expertise. Nor, do I think he only wants to do so in the future. No disrespect intended to Jon or Jason. ie. Jon is the man and Jason can take up for himself. Now if any of you guys can help me with my CSC505 hw, you will truly be the man. Stupid damn algorithm proofs are fscking up my enthusiasm to frustration ratio. -- Happy Trails John F.
