Subject: Re: [TriLUG] strange boot problem
It's not the bios
One mb is a shuttle ak35gt2 It has had the latest bios update and it has had a
complete install of both mandrake 9.2 and fedora from the dvd this year. installed
fedora about 3 weeks ago from the dvd
has also had mandrake 9.0, 9.1, and 9,2 installed from the cd rom bootiing from
cd.. Has both dvdrw and a cdrw dives installed.
The other board was just purchased to replace a dead ECS board. Got a syntax board
from tiger. Seems to work ok
I put in the hard drive with fedora already installed from the other computer. made
changes for hardware and it seems to work fine.
But, neither computer will boot from the disks.
All disks have been used for install on the shuttle board except for the mandrake
10cd's
Neither computer will boot from the cd's or the dvd's
Both will still boot from the winxp and knoppix cd,
they will not boot from the win me cd eiither

How old a computer is this? Have you checked to see if there are any
BIOS updates available? It's possible that older BIOSes don't like the
methods that certain CDs are using to boot.
