People people people. Anyone strongly-enough entrenced in the PlayStation world will tell you the proper abbreviation for the original PlayStation is /not/ PS1, but *PSX*. No confusion as the PS One is not actually a homonym with anything.

At least, that's what my friend tells me.  ;-)

PS1 (not called that at the time), PS2, then PS one.  I love the masters
of obfuscation who decided to make '1' and 'one' completely different
products..

(Although not that different, PS one was basically a PS1 with a screen
on it, IIRC)
