TrinuxAG uses a loop filesystem and has a large file in the zip (called
Trloop) that accounts for most of the size increase.
As for what a loop filesystem is/does .. I've no idea.
As for getting x working....
TrinuxAG comes with XFree86 in VGA, /usr/etc/XF86Config contains the config
details
If you're struggling getting x configured correctly (I run it on a Libretto
and found that until I got the pointer part of the config correct it was
impossible to use x - needed to state PS/2 as the protocol) try installing
another distribution that has XFree86 - I used RedHat and see what the
XF86Config is there - the bigger distros have auto tools for automating the
config for X
