When last I said this was working at home, that was premature. The router was still dropping calls after about a minute, and the echo server at ekiga.net was not sending my packets back, though the one at iptel.org was. I double-checked the port triggering/forwarding setup on my router, no joy. When I set this machine as the 'dmz', the calls to echo test do not get dropped. If this machine were always turned on, I'd never do this.

Thanks,

Dave

Have you routed the specific router's ports? See here

Please, tell us your results. Remember to reboot your router after changing the port forwarding, if necessary.

Maybe your router can assign the public IP to your computer. It was necessary for me once, but maybe it has security issues, so better turn it off when you stop using ekiga.
