Hello,
I am trying to figure out whether the VirtualBox Guest Additions are free
software or not.
I have looked around on the internet, but the topic seems quite obscure.
I have not found the Guest Additions iso in Trisquel packages. However, on
Virtual Box website (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads) they say that
- for the VirtualBox platform packages - "The binaries are released under the
terms of the GPL version 2."
Now, from there I can download a .deb package that actually includes the file
VBoxGuestAdditions.iso
If I mount the iso, the VBoxLinuxAdditions.run file for Linux Guests contains
GPL'd code, but I can't say anything about the Windows executable.
If I had to believe to the VirtualBox website, I'd say that all the Guest
Additions are GPL'd. If so, why aren't they included in Trisquel?
I am running Trisquel 5.0 dagda amd64
