Unity is absolutely not acceptable, since it is proprietary. Before they  
started using a proprietary, self-developed desktop environment, everything  
was simple: stick with the upstream, change the theme, done. If Trisquel  
would use Unity it would stop being the 100% free distro that it is. Why not  
use the blobs for Linux as well and preinstall software like Skype then?

Personally, I find Unity and Gnome Shell quite confusing and wasn't able to  
understand what the hell was going on when watching other people work with  
them. I didn't have the chance to try Gnome 3 out though.
