i have the same predicament and i can attest to what your feeling now. on my  
part, i have a printer that as a dual purpose as it's also a scanner. the  
issue arises when i change my OS and the OS is not supported by the  
installation disk. i did called the service center of the printer which also  
serve for their scanner. i was only told to downgrade or installed my  
previous OS if i want to work it out again. i really feel i'm cheated. they  
should not tell me what OS to use but let their software installation adopt  
to new hardware or systems.
