Also, to prevent another problem, please disable multiarch if you don't need  
it - Edit /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.f/multiarch and remove the line that says  
foreign-architecture i386 or justr delete the multiarch file. Then do the  
normal apt-get update and apply all available updates.
