Besides the upgrade problem, there are also other issues with the final release that should be fixed ASAP. If you're in contact with other developers, please let them know, so they can also be fixed. Thanks in advance.
This sounds very similar to the issue I've got when upgraded to Brigantia.
Although, I does not enabled multiarch by myself, the upgrade process went
ahead and did that for me, and also installed a bunch of :i386 packages just
to make me happy. When I removed these duplicate :i386 packages, the system
refused to boot, and I fixed that by reinstalling the amd64 counterparts from
the recovery environment (thanks god I was so wise to save the output from
terminal to a log file, so I could analyze the problem).
