[Trisquel-users] Problem with Photosmart c3180

Hello everyone.
I am having a problem with a printer that I got second hand, it's a HP  
Photosmart C3180. When I try to use it in Debian or Trisquel LiveCD, it is  
not seen by the system. I tried with LInux Mint LiveCD and it works like a  
charm. I suspected it was a matter of proprietary drivers so I did some  
reading and I realized I had to install the free drivers hplip from the  
repositories. Which I did, and now I can use the scan function, but I can't  
still get the system to see it as a printer :S
Do you guys have any suggestion, is there any other free driver that needs to  
be installed? I would expect that with the free driver it might eventually  
not work as a scanner but work as a printer, but it's happening the other way  
around :S

Also, whenever I turn it on, it prints the "test page" on it's own. Why would  
that happen, could be related to the free drivers not working correctly?
