To blacklist a module, one puts a file to /etc/modprobe.d/ that contains "blacklist module". You might want toman modprobeman modprobe.conf
You could try a newer kernel + x stack. Currently the newest I believe issudo
apt-get install --install-recommends
{linux-generic,xserver-xorg,libgl1-mesa-glx,libegl1-mesa-drivers}-lts-utopic
