"Insistence isn't likely to work"
Imagine if the gamers of the world stood up in unison and demanded free
software, lest they stop purchasing their stuff. (For this to work they'd
need to be willing to carry out said threat.) Refusing to buy proprietary
games is better than sitting at home and saying "Oh gee, well, sigh, I *wish*
it were free..." and that being the end of it as some have said in this
thread. That sort of stuff will not get anything changed.

If copyright disappeared tomorrow it would not make software free because
source code would not magically appear. The company would still keep in
hidden as they do now. Plus, they'd still have other regulatory options
available to them to stop the sharing. (It would hurt copyleft though.)
