I've had my share of issues with the netinstall, but after a few attempts, it  
worked. Never had any issue with Grub though. My drive is encrypted and I  
have Libreboot.

Also md5 isn't as reliable as gpg, from what I've read.
Last but hopefully not least, this might maybe help (but I might be off  
target since I don't precisely know the error messages you're getting).
