I believe the stubbornness from GNU and free software community is doing more
harm then good.
I am more leaning for calling it just Linux because it is a lot better for
marketing the operating system. Were the fight should be is difference
between the mind send of free software and open source. That is my part.
I have soon been running Trisquel for two years and Im getting tiered of the
fight against software that dont respect my freedom because their is no life
there. I see my self as a former computer geet that just lived computers. Its
a comfortable bubble to live in because I didnt live life. GNU/FSF/free
software movement lives in the same bubble. Many free software sites is nerdy
simple, stuck in the 90s. They work great for a computer geek mind but not
for the rest of humanities thinking. This is also the difference between open
source and free software. Their is A LOT MORE life in open source communities
and distros but in free software its a computer geek world that limits its
own potential.
I think this is why free software is so small.
It's like FSF is standing on a tiny island out alone in the ocean and say "WE
ARE FREE" but their is nothing to do. Just eat, shit and sleep.
Free software is taking stands against open source, it's a fight. Why not try
to compromise and cooporate? I have ideas but RMS and the free software
wouldnt like it but it is at least based on a 100% libre base of GNU/Linux
and then informs the user that maybe some hardware needs proprietary software
to work and then the user choose to. User dont use wifi=wifi drivers dont
needs to be installed. Same with software. If user search for Skype
alternatives comes up first. This was a very simple explanation from me. I
have it more thought out.
This was just a rant from me that I have been thinking of for some time.
