> Will you be releasing every single part of your hardware design as free software in the future?

98% of it's *already* available as libre-licensed designs. it says right on the campaign page that i'll be releasing the remaining files when the money is recouped.

> Also, Will you be updating the speed of the processor in the future,

you can't update the speed of *a* processor, but EOMA68 is designed to slot in totally *new* Computer Cards that happen to *have* faster processors on them. details in the update of what's being evaluated. quad-core and octa-core.

> some people think libreboot x200 will be 2x faster than your hardware.

if you've ever used an x200 you'll know that the processors and the PCBs are getting on for 10 years old. that means that you have "migration" problems associated with the solder which can cause "bridging" between components - you get these little "trees" growing between them. so over time you end up with short-circuits, and the entire machine fails inexplicably.

lead was added to solder to stop this from happening... but somebody noticed that lead's poisonous, so you can't do it any more, you have to sell products certified "ROHS".

basically, by buying an x200 you're on borrowed time.

yep... retired. intel core 2 duo processors.... google those:

yep... 2006-2007. *definitely* retired, nearing 10 years.

so yes: of course performance of a 2ghz Intel 64-bit Core2 Duo is WAY faster than that of a dual-core ARM Cortex A7 1ghz processor. but hoolllyy shit 65 watts TDP! the A20 maxes out at 2.5 if you really push it!

> I talked to someone in the chat yesterday who thought you were putting people on.

now why after working in software libre for 20+ years - working constantly in the public eye - would i want to do something as stupid as that??

> I like the idea of your hardware, and I bet it is free software friendly.

of course! a list of where you can get the entire sources is here!

> But will it be free hardware someday and I mean, completely libre...

the micro-desktop and the laptop already are.

> Also, how much do you plan to shoot for with regard to the 11 inch laptop when you succeed. (crowdfunding I mean.)

it's a year's development, basically. so to justify that it is necessary to look at how the costs can be recouped. i outlined on the latest update a series of designs that can be brought out (based on existing PCBs) with a *lot* less time and money, so will do those first. https://www.crowdsupply.com/eoma68/micro-desktop/updates/product-roadmap - LCD Monitor (one that won't spy on you) and a Keyboard-computer, basically.

> All that aside, Make good use of everyones money if you succeed. :)

i'll fulfil the promises i've made to people... *then* i'll see what i can do with any spare (if there is any).
