It looks like your DVD has some scratches.
"Error reading VTS_12_8.VOB at block 3680761, read error returned" etc..
Unfortunately, there is not much you can do. Maybe try to clean it ?
I had this issue with a DVD I borrowed in a public library.. (some people are
pigs !)
By the way, this explains why it failed to encode with handbrake :)
If you're lucky, maybe the scratches affects only the bonus/trailers part of
your DVD.
Maybe try to only rip main video.
dvdbackup -i /dev/sr0 --feature
If it completes without error, you can then encode it with handbrake or play
it with VLC.
