In Finland, a city block has one parking box for all vehicles, usually out of view on the sidewalk somewhere away from the kerb.

No need to authenticate, pay with a coin and get a receipt that you put on the windshield inside your vehicle. One half of the receipt goes into your pocket that you can use to invalidate a parking ticket if wrongly ticketed, say you are on motorcycle that can't be locked (some-one stole the ticket or it was gone with the wind).
