Yes, each a and b is run to no change.

Dennis describes various versions of change in TROM manual. Yawn is a
change. Doing things slower or faster is a change. Changing emotion is a
change. Etc.

Touching twice won't be enough to start anything. If you do the touching
for a while, preferably changing the objects and truly feeling their
weight, texture, temperature, etc will likely turn something on. Being
intensely bored with the exercise is change, too. Impatience with the
process is also a change.
