Let me suggest that you leave out "state of mind". I would then communicate it as a state of consciousness or a state of existence [a spiritual state not a physical body state]. It is one simultaneously aware of their being aware as a consciousness and also being aware of their 'state' or 'level' at that same moment. Realize that you kind of have to look back in a moment of time at that moment. By pausing in a moment of reflection and doing this, you can also see that the moment, the state/level has continued into the present moment.

You could also use the word "level" instead of "state".

Yes, that interchange of words is fine. You can see that I have already incorporated it above.
