TROM Ethics consists of the following 4 rules: 1) NEVER FORCE A PERSON TO KNOW A THING AGAINST THEIR CHOICE. 2) NEVER PREVENT A PERSON FROM KNOWING. 3) NEVER FORCE A PERSON TO MAKE A THING KNOWN. 4) NEVER PREVENT A PERSON FROM MAKING A THING KNOWN. I have no problem with rule 1) and 3). But I do have some reservations with rule 2) and 4). 2) NEVER PREVENT A PERSON FROM KNOWING. Example: A child wants to touch a hot surface and there is some danger that it could burn itself. Shouldn't it be prevented from doing so? Wouldn't that be best for its survival? 4) NEVER PREVENT A PERSON FROM MAKING A THING KNOWN. Example: Someone promotes the idea that members of a specific ethnic group should be killed. Shouldn't he be prevented from doing so? Wouldn't that be for the survival of that specific ethnic group? Please let me know your opinions. Leo Faulhaber
