Plain statements in the Bible would not necessarily remedy this situation. For example, the Bible is pretty plain that Jesus considers us his brethren, yet Glenn says he is the brother of nobody. The Bible also says quite plainly that we are justified by works, but Glenn would likely jump on those who would make an emphasis of this. The bottom line is that life and the philosophies that seek to make sense of life is all very complicated. Language is imprecise, and then most people are imprecise in using that imprecise language. The result is misunderstanding and arguments. No matter how plain the Bible might appear to be about matters, men can twist it to their own destruction if they want to. The mind can rationalize just about anything. What determines whether a person will walk in the Truth or walk in falsehood is not a plain book that makes things clear, but what is in the heart. If a person loves Jesus and obeys him, he will walk in the truth and be led into clear knowledge of the truth. If a person walks in selfishness and sin, he will be blind and unable to understand the Bible or any other holy writings. Peace be with you.
