Time from Crucifixion to destruction of earthly temple:  40 years.   Time from the passover lamb to entering the promised land:  40 years.   Time of Jesus being tempted of Satan in the wilderness:  40 days.   Time of Moses receiving the law in Sinai:  40 days.   Are you seeing a pattern here?   You used 1948 for the start of Israel, but keep in mind that Israel did not gain control of Jerusalem until 1967.   1967 + 40 = 2007.   However, also keep in mind that Israel has still not really taken the temple mount area.  Technically, they have control, but in political practice, the Arab Muslims have it.   Peace be with you.
