Ruben:
Judy do not worry I am slow to patting
people on the back, even literally (1Ti.5:22).
jt: I wasn't referring
to the ministry of 'laying on of hands' Ruben, that's another
issue
entirely.
Tell me, where in all of scripture do
you find love defined as 'warm fuzzies' or where do you find a
ministry of 'rebuking?' - both speak volumes about where you are
at.....You might want to spend more time studying God's Word to find out what
God thinks......since His is the ONLY opinion that counts.
Ruben:
Rebuking is found from Old to New (see
Bible for details), the theme has always been “Repentance” and not “God loves
you and so do I” (see Bible for details).
jt: The OT Prophets did this and John was the last and greatest
of them. However, the Church is under a New Covenant and has been given the
ministry of reconciliation. You don't see Paul rebuking ppl in Athens do
you? I find a wide gulf between this "rebuking ministry" and Paul
who wrote "For though I be free from all men yet have I made myself servant
unto all, that I might gain the more... and To the weak became I as weak, that
I might gain the weak; I am made all things to all men that I might by all
means save some, and this I do for the gospel's sake that I might be partaker
thereof with you." (1 Cor 9:19,22).
Well…ok, I will give you one example, “PREACH
THE WORD; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, REBUKE, exhort, with
all longsuffering and doctrine” (2Tim.4:2) are those the options that
count?
jt: They count when
ministered to the right ones... like with Titus, this also is an instruction
given to Timothy who is pastoring a group of believers at Ephesus.
Reproving, rebuking and exhorting with all longsuffering and doctrine is for
the CHURCH.
jt: Warm fuzzies? In Acts 21:13
some people were weeping and breaking Paul's heart about him going up to
Jerusalem... but then of course they weren't Mormons who had recently been
humiliated and rebuked in front of their own pagan temple....Do you get them
delivered Ruben? Do you cast the deceiving spirits out of them in the
name of Jesus?
Ruben:
Why were these men jailed, beaten and
killed because they made people weep?
I do not cast out demons just to cast out
demons, people should “want” to be delivered as found in all four
Gospels. If you cast out demons,
just to cast out demons you do yourself and mainly that person a disservice,
if not more harm (Mt.12:43-45).
And not everything is demonic
jt: The religious
spirit driving Mormons is demonic but you are right, it doesn't have to
leave if they want it there. Jesus doesn't free ppl from their
friends.
(Gal.5:19-21) please note the word
“flesh”. I know Christians that
believe there are demons here…demons there…demons everywhere…and cannot leave
the house unless they bind every principality known to mankind, they become in
bondage to this doctrine.
jt: Who do you think
empowers the old flesh nature that is supposed to be dead and buried with
Christ?. It's not necessary to bind every demon everywhere, all that's
necessary is for the believer to be walking after the
spirit.
When Jesus taught His disciples to pray
(Lk.11:1), which is known as the “Lords prayer” but really it is the disciples
prayer (anyway) we find no “I bind you satan” or the devil referenced
(Lk.11:2-4).
jt: Vs.4 covers "forgiving/unforgiveness, temptation and
deliverance from the evil one"
Personally, we should do as the Bible teaches
and “Give NO PLACE to the devil”. Let me ask you a question Judy, did anyone
in the Bible preach at or around the Temple, where believers were?
jt: The Jewish temple
in Jerusalem? Yes, but I don't know of any who waved the high priests
outmoded garments around or anything like that. Also after Pentecost it
appears they spread out. In the gospels we are speaking of Israel, a
theocracy so there is no parallel. We do not live in a Christian nation
contrary to what some believe and teach.
