DaveH,

Here we have another example of Mormons using words to mean different things than Christians.

Dave, can you please answer these questions regarding the Mormon "heaven":

1. Aren't there three levels of heaven (a.k.a. kingdoms)?

2. What are the conditions for entering each of the three levels?

3. Will non-mormons ever enter the celestial (3rd) kingdom?

4. What is required of a Mormon to enter the celestial kingdom?

5. Which heaven will those such as Hitler enter?

Thanks,
Perry

DAVEH: I've explained this before, and will be happy to explain it
again. NO.....I don't believe one has to be LDS (a Mormon) to enter
heaven. The mere fact that we practice baptism for the dead would imply
that there are many people who will have the opportunity to accept
baptism without having been a Mormon. (I hope that makes sense.)
Also......the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS came into existence in
1830. Obviously, we believe people who lived before that time will have
the opportunity of salvation (entering heaven).

Let me further explain......I believe nobody will enter heaven who
has not been born again of both water and the HS. I also believe the
water baptism needs be done by the proper authority of God (the
priesthood). That priesthood authority has existed on the earth at
times when the LDS Church did not. Hence....no, one does not necessarily
need to be a 'Mormon' to enter heaven.

.........Now let me address your parallel post.

According to LDS theology you must join the ONE TRUE Church

So according to LDS beliefs noone else can be saved unless they are
Mormon? That seems kind of narrow to me. Laura

.......While it may seem "kind of narrow" to you, Laura, isn't the path
to heaven "kind of narrow"? (Mt 7:14) The Bible tells us there is
only one way to heaven, and that is through Jesus. Furthermore, he said
that ONLY those who are born of water (baptism, IMO) and the Spirit will
enter the kingdom of God (Jn 3:5).....To me, that seems rather narrow,
does it not? IF my believe about born of water (being water baptism) is
correct, as well as my belief that baptism need be done by proper
authority, then it seems logical that a specific church could be the
venue for where one could be properly baptized in one of his early steps
on the path back to heaven.
