Look, we have a fundamental difference here concerning the "silence of Scripture." >From my perspective, if the Bible does not tell us about the thieves carrying their crosses, then we should go outside the Bible to determine the truth to the best of our ability. You apparently have a problem with that. I do not. Just because the Bible does not assert a particular truth does not mean that we must forever remain in ignorance of that truth. jt: What if it's a lie? How would you know the
difference since you are open to everything?
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that the Bible will lead us into all
truth. It is the Holy Spirit that leads us into all truth. The
Scriptures are a testimony and they are true, but we can go beyond them to learn
a few things. Indeed, we ought to.
jt: Who wrote the Bible if not men inspired by the same
Spirit and what do you do with the warnings not to add or take away from
the written Word? I would think that speaking where God has not spoken is
rushing in where angels fear to tread.
I'm saying that my understanding of Christ's suffering based upon my study
of the Bible is closer to Mel Gibson's perspective of it than it is to your
perspective based upon your Biblical study.
jt: Then you must be open to the same religious
spirits as the mystic nun Emmerich because Gibson got all of that out of
her book called the Via Dolorosa and Gibson's movie is
mystic/RC doctrine to the core.
I saw that ABC movie about Judas this week. What a joke. It
reminded me why I liked the Passion movie so much. Why isn't everyone
criticizing the Judas movie?
jt: Who saw the Judas movie? I don't make a habit of
watching religious mumbo jumbo through the eyes of secular media and
wouldn't have gone to the Gibson movie but for the accolades by well
known Christian leaders in this country (and my daughter coming up with a
ticket). This is what is so sad about the Gibson fantasy. It shows
that there is NO discernment at all in professing Christendom's leadership and
so the baby lambs are pretty much out there on their own.
