isn't the true meaning of 2 Thess 2 most likely to be found in the NT literature itself minus various unfounded post-1st c. extrapolations?   e.g., what happens to the meaning of it (minus e.g., the impact of Dave Hunt-ism, etc., even on the KJV) when our gathering together is juxtaposed properly, in the context of two sequential sentences of the Ap. Paul's, with a falling away first ? (vss 1,2 of 2Thess 2)   This kind of writing, BTW, is beautiful literature, regardless; it possess a certain connectednes and beauty 'literarily', whether you believe it or not; also, FTR, the word 'by' (in, e.g., the KJVs 'by our gathering together') must be inserted--it's not there(!); neither, then, do/es the NIV (or D Hunt or H Lindsey, C Ryrie, et. al.) have a basis to retain it (or the idea of it) by inc the additional word 'by' However, my point: If  translators and so-called expositors leave the text alone, and the HS, a falling away first juxtaposes quite naturally with our (current) gathering together, as JCs followers--no ref there to the future; meaning, then, that when the man of sin appears, or emerges out of a group who has/ve fallen away from JCs followers (whenever that is), that will be a (future) time that's also like when JC himself was crucifed, when most, if not all will again simply abandon the Christ (concurrently abandoning his followers) even though they say/said they, too, have been 'following' him.. e.g., haven't you heard BB King and Mel Gibson's answers to the question 'were you here when they crucified my Lord'? FTR, BB says he held the scabbard from which the soldiers drew a sword and pierced his side; MG says he held the nail for them...but i'd like to know, since even the Ap. Peter ran off, how were they really there? who WAS there besides a 'malefactor'? who's gonna be there in the days the Ap. Paul envisioned?
