From: "Lance Muir" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> I truly don't mean what you think I mean. Without meaning there are only words (including God's Words). Even with God's Spirit we all
demonstrate a remarkable capacity to circumvent His Meaning.
jt: A couple more thoughts on the above statement. Who
do you
think it is who 'circumvents' God's meaning? Who is it
who put his
own spin on Matt 4:6? (compare with the original in Ps
91:11,12)
And, without meaning there is no communication just an exchange
of words.
jt: Right but scripture teaches "there are, it may be,
so many kinds of
voices in the world and none of them is without
signification; therefore
if I know not the meaning of the voice, I shall be unto
him that speaketh
a barbarian and he that speaketh shall be a barbarian
unto me., even so
ye forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts seek
that ye may excel
to the edifying of the Church" (1 Cor 14:10) and Paul
goes on to say
that it is not good to speak in tongues at Church
because noone knows
what the person is saying except God.
Same with complicated extra Biblical doctrines; if you
can't show what
you are saying clearly by scripture then you are as a
"trumpet with an
uncertain sound"
