The real question is:
"why do you feel attacked by the word of God"?

Thanks Judy. You did apprehend my meaning and,
in the end agreed. Aside from assuming the "attack mode"
at the outset you acknowledged that there are limitations to
our understanding of Scripture's meaning and, throughout
life will continue to be this "seeing in part". Thanks, Lance

jt: Are you sure we agree Lance :)  because I really didn't
"assume attack mode", this is just my way of expressing
myself. My heart is not to attack you or any person on TT,
neither is it to lift myself up and put you or anyone here
down.  I see truth as objective and important enough to
risk being misunderstood.  judyt

Was written by men (granted, with the aid of the HS) and,
it is interpreted by men (and women)

jt: This is the problem and the reason we do not communicate.
Your view is totally natural, mine supernatural or Spiritual. I
would say the Bible was written by the inspiration of the Holy
Spirit and is ONLY ever interpreted correctly with the help and
assistance of the Holy Spirit because the things of God are
foolishness to the 'natural man'.

Is there anyone on this site who has not, on occasion,
misinterpreted Scripture? Or, God forbid, may not presently be
misinterpreting this Book?

jt: Depends.. There is certainly a lot of misinterpreting going on.
It began to come together for me when I started doing my own
homework and quit looking to great men after the flesh for
answers.  Now I don't have to ignore any or cut any out, I can
have confidence in the whole Bible, every word and I love the
Hymn 'Wonderful Words of Life' I think it is my favorite.

One sometimes wonders if there's a more dangerous instrument
in the hands of a believer than the Bible. I mean dangerous (bad)
not dangerous (good). Scripture + Spirit-filled believer = this site,
all churches, all traditions.

jt: I'd say Scripture + Carnal believer + Psychology + Mens
Theology + Doctrines of devils which encompass most of the
other as well.

What we always have is an admixture of truth & error. Non is
excluded from this reality. May I see the names of those who
believe themselves to be noteworthy exceptions to the foregoing.
Lance

jt: Moot point, since noone is there yet; even the apostle Paul toward
the end of his ministry said "he had not yet attained" and he wrote
most of the NT. But we forget what is behind and press on looking
to Jesus the author and perfector of our faith Note: Faith that comes
by hearing and hearing by the Word of God which is found in this
Bible.   judyt

Bill, shouldn't you be letting God be God in the lives of people?
Last I read it was the Holy Spirit who convicts of sin.

When do unrepentant sinners ever request counseling?
They would be unrepentant sinners if they were seeking counsel.

Kevin isn't the one who dragged this out of the woodpile - it
was one of 'in your words' your paranoid friends Bill trying to
counsel where counselling had not been requested.  jt

Kevin, maybe sometimes its better to stay out of other people's business,
especially if all you are doing in it is making matters worse. Even the paranoid
(like me, and John, and Izzy, and DaveH, and Blaine, and Lance, and DavidM,
and whoever else you don't like) can have some true enemies. Bill Taylor

Well I guess Jesus should rewrite Mark 16

Todays 21 first century version:
Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to those that want to hear it

This is a public list and you are choosing to be here

Why do you communicate with Izzy?  Do you actually think you are accomplishing some good addressing your thoughts to someone who is not listening to you?   I  don't mind the discussion with you, but Izzy does.  the scriptures teach that we are not to "seek our own."   Love does not seek its own way or will.   Izzy does have a delete button.   And you have instruction from God on how to show respect to others.   Why not practice what you preach instead of insisting on your "rights" as a member of a public list.
