To Judy and others:   Do you think it would be helpful if I wrote a few words explaining the distinction between syntax and semantics? Much of what divides us and frustrates us here on TT is rooted in our use and misuse of language: our misunderstanding of how it works. I know you don't appreciate contributions of this sort, but it may be well advised to flush this one out a bit.   Bill
