an effort to protect their more susceptible members.....just say so, and I'll be gone.  I have gone overboard to try to avoid posting LDS scriptural passages here, except when asked to do so, as I don't want folks to think I am abusing my visitor's privileges.  I've admitted to my LDS biases, and pose my Bible related questions in an effort to contrast my beliefs to yours so I can try to figure out why you and I obtain different understandings from the same passages.  To me....that is very interesting and keeps me asking the questions.  Unfortunately, few TTers find it as interesting as I do, and instead feel happier attacking my beliefs in order to show others how evil my presumed cult like beliefs are.

No need to think about leaving.

DAVEH:  I'm not.  It's been a few months since anybody suggested I do so.  Since coming here, the topic has come up now and then though.  I'm not to concerned about what individuals think about it, but if the moderators ever feel it is best for me to bow out....I will heed their advice.
I doubt anyone really wants that.  "Susceptible members" are a concern, but if the discussion is a sincere one and there are those who really know how to make a defense, there should be no threat to those who have not the same knowledge/ability.  For me, the simple exchange of ideas is not as helpful as an exchange that is free to take us to some kind of conclusion other than "oh, I understand."
DAVEH:  Agreed.  There is always the hope that one will glean useful ideas (may I suggest we call it truth) from TT.  There are going to be some that will be tempted to respond to this with a "But DaveH, you said you aren't here for truth."  That is true....that is not my primary purpose for being here.  That does not mean that I might not adopt some of it if I happen to bump into it though.  I'm just not sure I've seen as much of it here as other TTers presume it to be.
Unfortunately, many discussions on TT involving those of similar faith do not have a wholesome conclusion --  i.e. the faith vs works discussions often end without resolution.
DAVEH:  Which I do find curious.
Well, we understand each other a little better.
DAVEH:  I do think so, and I appreciate you plowing the ground with me.  Perhaps now we can plant a crop and enjoy the feast at harvest time, eh!
It is not about defeating you or anyone.
DAVEH:  Whew.....I wish others could think that way sometimes.
That would not enter my mind unless I felt threatened  -- and, of course, i don't.

Incidentally, I will be 59 in a few days, so I am no spring chicken myself.

DAVEH:  LOL......Yikes, you are waaaaaaaaaay older than me, John.  I'm only pushing 56.    <VBG>

Grace to you
John Smithson
