No. Salvation is not based upon intellect and understanding. This is why I was concerned about your perspective about faith being intellectual. As we grow in Christ, our understanding increases. Just as good works are a product of faith, so also is proper understanding a result of faith in Christ. I'm saying that we cannot reject what Jesus taught about anything. If we believe in Jesus, we will conform our lives to him in all things, in how we live, how we think, and how we understand all things. If anyone says that he does not believe in hell, and then he is shown how Jesus did believe in hell and taught it to be a place where the wicked are tormented, then that person would need to conform his ideas of hell to what Jesus taught. Otherwise, he really does not believe in Jesus. "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.
