Is it possible to love and hate the same object at the same time?
Glad to see you weigh in on this, Bill. And I appreciate your honesty. A practical example of the above: my youngest son is the tough guy in the family but his Dad has had more bar room experience. His last year in high school (and I raised him from the time he was 11) , he was so disrespectful and had to handle, that the only thing I could think of -- day or night -- was locking the two of us in the back and showing him what an old man can do with a punk. He is 26 now. We talked about that year and he apologized. He is a great Christian leader, a real heart for ministry, a terrific Dad and (probably) still a tough guy but God has changed his life. The point being - I was filled with hate and love for this boy all at the same time. So, I guess I am saying that from personal experience, I know the two can co-exist. And it had nothing to do with love the sinner and hate the sin --- I wanted to kick his butt but I loved him. It actually took me over a year (with him gone to school in Davis) to get over how riled I was.
