There is no way for man to be fully reconciled to God apart from the Christ of the Cross.   It is not that Adam blew it for the rest of us  --  it is that as a seed must die to fulfill it true destiny, so man must die in Christ.

jt: John, tell me you don't mean it;  Adam did blow it as representative man.  Before he fell there was no need to be reconciled to God. They were in fellowship with Him and He walked with them in the "cool of the day."  As soon as sin entered the picture they went into hiding because their consciences condemned them.

The death of Christ reached back to Adam and brought all the elect of God into an eternal destiny that is not possible and was never possible by physical creation. work in progress JD

jt: True, but A&E were not just physical creations, they were made in God's image and God is not a physical body. He is Spirit. Eve was seduced and deceived by another spirit and Adam chose to go along with her rather than take a stand and be up front before God.  So everyone since then has been paying because we are all born with an inheritance in the first Adam which is a predisposition to sin and the carnal (or natural) mind is at enmity with God.  It is this old unregenerate carnality that must die and if Adam had not made the wrong choice it would not be there to begin with.

Grace and Peace,
