What you fail to see Judy is that your very words indicate a "Greek" or maybe better put, a "Western" mindset.  It makes no difference that You cannot see it. While some here might not have thought of it this way, I can see by their replies they also see this in you. That very mindset is what causes you to answer in the way that you do.  I hate to say it, but, in spite of the fact that you thought you studied and held to Torah, you display a hellenized response.  You say that your source is the word of God. I find that amazing. Why do you suppose you have alienated people on both sides of the Gentile/Jewish coin here?
Judy, be careful of that Hebrew mindset stuff!!!  Hmmmmm, that is the Whole Bible!

They thought they were following God Slade, they were Asian Jews who had some kind of a misguided  zeal for God and they tried to kill Paul because they believed he had brought a Greek from Cyprus into the temple and polluted the holy place. These Jews would have been better off with a Holy Ghost mindset.

Bogus, Jody. Those who cursed Paul were not following God. They were haters of men.

Care must be taken with the Hebrew mindset, as Judy rightly says. It will make you realize ALL PEOPLE (EVERY SINGLE ONE) living in the Western world (which includes Canada and USA) all think with a Hellenistic mindset. Most greatly so; others less so.

Wow! Anyone else 'signing on'? Judy?

What for?  I'm not into Greek or any other philosophy. My source is God's Word with the aid of the Holy Spirit which teaches that man is spirit, soul, and body. Be careful with this Hebrew mindset stuff. You may end up like the Jews who persecuted Peter and Paul. The ones who swore a curse on Paul and vowed to kill him. judyt
AmazingI agree with Jonathan here! J Iz

Slade I anxiously await your response to this one.  I am very grateful to a few people in my life (including Lance) who have pointed out how important the Hebrew mindset is to understanding Christianity.  The concept of wholeness in the human instead of the broken up spirit, soul, body, mind of greek philosophy is a breath of fresh air.

I'll get to this when I have more time (like on Shabbat, perhaps).

Judyt: To me this makes about as much sense as the right brain, left brain, New Age mumbo jumbo.

Slade says: Interesting perspective. That's how I receive Spirit vs. Flesh arguments.

Judyt:

I can't imagine why Slade; the reality of the fact that man is a spirit being is all through scripture ie:

Zech 12:1 "I formed the spirit of man within him"

Hebrews 12:9 contrasts the fathers of the flesh with the Father of Spirits.

Romans 8:1,2 contrasts walking after the flesh with walking after the Spirit

Galatians 5:19-23 contrasts fruit of the flesh as opposed to fruit of the Spirit

How does one explain these scriptures and the ones I haven't listed when in denial?
