Thanks for the great update, John. Tell Mr. T. hello from Izzy and TT. I
wish he'd rejoin us. Glad you are enjoying the town where my younger son
attended the AF Academy. He and his wife were married in the stainless
steel chapel there. Beautiful (but cold!) place. Izzy

Well, howdy. Writing to you from Colorado Springs on a clear and cold
Monday night. Six inches of snow here today and 13 degrees tonight.

Remember that post of a week or so ago in which I was willing to bet that
there was a profound sense of unity amoung all of the members of TT in
terms of their their daily walk?

I can hear the good Lord saying to me, right now, "You are correct, Sir."
Especially after meeting with brother, your friend and mine, William
Peediddy Taylor - the infamous Billy T.

Six hours. I am afraid that I talked entirely too much (it is the preacher
thing -- sometimes not good). But I did allow brother Bill to talk for a
few minutes. Big guy (but, like I always say, Shirley, anyone over 5' 7"
is deformed). Been a member of his local church for maybe 15 years. A
conservative type to look at. Conservative church. Three boys -- none of
which has robbed a bank or ran for school drag queen. His wife looks to me
to be someone who can keep his feet planted firmly on Mother Earth. A
young looking couple -- the only distraction I saw in either of them
during that Saturday afternoon. Thank God I look old.

He doesn't own an ivory tower. Has some property. Sold his modest cattle
heard. Lays brick for a living and has very little work left to complete a
post graduate degree -- religious, you know.

He has heard John 3:16 preached as many times as the rest of us. His time
in school has opened the door to a further walk with God. He enjoys
walking around in the midst of good ideas and the only REALLY good ones come
from God.

He has decided to be a teacher. Maybe in school, college or somewhere, but
certainly as a Disciple. There is a sadness in realizing that opposition
comes with that assignment. Sometimes tough times. Part of his education
will include the increasing realization that victory over those who oppose
one's teaching -- and the ignorant abound on all sides -- is found only in
one's relationship with his/her Master. There is no weaponry that will shut
the mouth of the profain or foolish. Only perserverance.. Keepin on
keeping on. Not losing the character of Christ in the preaching of His
message. That is the challenge, isn't it.

I like it when I am treated as an equal. And Bill did that with me. What
was disarming, for me, however, was the obvious fact the Spirit of the Lord
is very much a part of all that Bill is about. There is the passion of a
Jonathan or a Jeff Powers without the sometimes recklessness of speech
(it's a youth thing, guys). His hand and heart are on the Bible. He
cares. And he and I will be good friends because of that circumstance. I
like people who have a passion for the Lord. I see it in the writings of
several of you. I saw it in the face, the eyes, the voice, the excited
pattern of speech that gives Billy T his sense of uniqueness.

I recommend him to you all.

a friend a a brother,

Johnny D
