That is the popular notion among the modern ministers today, but I think it
is a bit myopic to focus only upon these elements as being "the gospel"

John responds:
The I Cor passage is the only passage that proports to give a definition or
explanation of the "gospel." So I will stay with that definition. To drag
other elements into the definition is to depend on reasoning and the ability to
deduce the truth of scripture on this point. If the Bible is complete, and I
believe it is for pragmatic reasons, then God said all that He intended to say
on a given subject. Since this is the only definition of "gospel" that I am
aware of -- I conclude that He said all that he intended to say. I Co
15:1-4, then, is the definition and the reasonings of man add nothing to the
subject in that regard.

Secondly, I do not believe in once saved always save -- but I am a "grace
man" as you say. I am not pursued by the ravage of fear. I am secure in what
God is doing for me.

third -- yes, you have it. I do believe that God requires different things
of different people for reasons known only to Him. I believe that God asks of
us what we can do at the time. That is why you are working on different
things in your life than I. If we live long enough and grow sufficiently into
a mature man, we will have much to compare and we will see many similarities.
And that is how I reconcile all of those biblical examples I gave in a previous
post.
