Lance, here is the deal.
Many years ago I read a lot about Mormonism. My mission was to find out if they indeed are Christians, as they claim to be. My years of reading, talking to Mormons, visiting SLC (I was there on a business trip, but took the opportunity to get to know the area, the people, and the monuments there) have demonstrated to me that 1) they are not Christians (they follow a false god and a false jesus) and one of their efforts is to go about "converting" people into this non-Christian cult. They are certainly well-meaning, and truly believe what Joseph Smith and other leaders of their non-prophet organization have taught them to believe, but they are leading people AWAY from the real Jesus and the real God.
For many years I have felt that it was my duty to point out Mormon misconceptions, lies, half-truths, deceptiions, and non-biblical aspects when they were presented. So, while I do follow a few TT threads now and then, and occasionally comment on them, I truly only feel compelled to write when I read some Mormon dogma on the forum. And, if I can keep just one person from falling into Satan's trap called Mormonism, I have succeded in my goal.
In fact, there was one person on this forum that claimed that Mormons follow the same god and Jesus that Christians do. This was not some new Christian, either, but someone whom I look up to as a leader on the forum. After I wrote to the forum and explained the Mormon god and jesus to them (in a way the missionaries will never tell you), that indivdual agreed that, indeed, the Mormons are not worshipping the same God and Jesus that Christians worship. No one else on the forum commented at all (dead eSilence) on the issue, but I hope tht others' eyes were opened on that day.
Now, I love DavidH. He is a very sincere, funny, loving, and admirable person. But, any time he (or anyone) puts Mormon thought on the forum, I feel compelled to counter it.
So, there is the deal.
