You misunderstand my question. I am not looking for anything
hypothetical. You made an assertion that they "blinked" at inopportune
times. I want some historical examples of what you have in mind so I can better understand
your point. It seems to me that you and I have not read the same history
books; either that, or we interpret history differently. Giving some examples
that you have in mind when the founding fathers missed opportunities to fix
the problem without establishing independence from the oppressive
government would help me understand your point better. You don't even have to
explain how they missed it if you don't want. Just give me the historical
