I am afraid that your example may be flawed. The Romans opressed the Jews and others in somewhat the same way. Neither the Savior nor those in the early Church advocated violence to stop violence, even though Christians were being killed in the arena just to entertain the crowds.
Good point, Terry. The time was not yet. Paul alludes to this in 2 Thess. 2 (see v. 7 in particular, but watch out for the Christian commentaries because almost all of them misinterpret this verse). This verse is best understood in light of Daniel 10 & 11, and a proper understanding of the Greek word "katecho." I think there is a short paper on this word "katecho" in the library section on our website at www.innglory.org.
Just because a nation is wicked is no reason to cut off from it. But, if God was moving against this wicked nation and its time was at hand to remove the iniquity, then cooperating with what God was doing is not operating in opposition to God. When the time came for the Greek empire to conquer the Meades and Persians, this was according to God's timetable. On earth we see one nation warring against another and men like Alexander the Great being in the spotlight, but all that we see on earth is only a reflection of the spiritual warfare being waged in the heavens. Imagine the spiritual warfare being waged right now in the heavens over Babylon and the U.S.A.
Peace be with you.
