Actually, rejecting Christ is a forgiveable sin. Jesus said:

Matthew 12:32
(32) And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him...

Notice that a person can reject Christ and blaspheme him, and he can be forgiven. However, a person cannot reject the Holy Ghost and blaspheme him and be forgiven.

What do you say it is? So are you saying
that other types of sin (than blasphemy
against the Holy Spirit) are forgiveable?
I certainly hope so!

Yes, there are many sins that may be forgiven. Intentional rebellion against the Holy Spirit is what is not forgiven.

There is another passage that I think helps us understand this distinction between willful sin and the sin of ignorance. It is the following:

1 John 3:2-3
(2) Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
(3) And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

Notice how it says we shall be like him "for we shall see him as he is." The idea communicated here is that we are not like him because of ignorance, because we do not see him. It seems to me that much of man's falling short is related to his not having the full revelation of Christ. When we see him, our old life falls away quickly because we are looking at him. It is when we step away from the light of Christ that we might fail, because stepping away from the light of Christ puts us into darkness and ignorance of him. If a person sins while being in the light of Christ, that would be a willful and intentional sin, an act of rebellion against Christ. The state of such a person would be like Esau who sold his birthright, or like Lucifer who thought it not necessary to do things God's way. There is no place of repentance for such individuals. They have willfully transgressed against the Holy Spirit. They are to be cut off from the covenant.

Peace be with you.
David Miller.
