David Miller's rephrasing of Judy's rhetorical question 'doesn't God's Word
mean anything' certainly calls for a direct answer. Yes, God's Word(s) do
mean ANYTHING. It is possible that, during my 'tenure' at OCB, I've seen
more examples of the ANYTHING that God's word(s) MEAN to fellow believers
than you have seen in the context of your life..
Someone has said that the distinction between adapt and adopt is finer than
a hair and harder than a diamond. We all cross that line from time to time.
Some adaptation, which does not compromise truth, is necessary in order to
communicate with each new generation.(See, as an example, Eugene Peterson's
'The Message') I've read your posts, David, outlining both how and what you
preach. Thankfully, God is gracious. You are locked into both a form and
content that reflect early to mid-twentieth century thinking. As to the
'scientific' logic of Popperian falsifiability governing your rationalistic
interpretation of the Scriptures, one can't fail to note how much you are
yet engaged in the 'Enlightenment Project' though it has long since failed.
As a man behind his time, David, I'd suggest that instead of critiquing that
which you do not know by both an outdated methodology and epistemology that
you enter the 21st century. Perhaps your daughter(?) now home for Christmas
could be of some assistance to you rather than the other way 'round. A real
scientist, while in debate with Phillip Johnson on the subject of evolution,
said 'as a scientist he makes a great lawyer (his profession)'

As to Torrance's 'philosophy', Judas' ultimate destiny and, what Jesus means
when He speaks these are matters for another day. Sometimes, David, even
believers are incorrigible. Whether that reference is to you, myself or, to
some extent, both of us I don't think will ever be resolved on this forum.

Too bad, David. Your version of the Gospel is obsolete. Modern man cannot connect with your message.

Guess I may as well go crawl in a hole and die. I am even obsoleeeeeter than you. :-)
