Jt:Good to hear from you. As to David Miller getting under my skin..well NO he does not.(Candidly, prior to coming to see the rationalist philosophy than serves a grid for all of his interpretation of Scripture, he did) Thoroughgoing rationalism is somewhat more serious (dangerous) than my small contribution to TT.

As you have structured your comment (PLEASE NOT HOW I AM MEANING THIS) the Spirit of God IS IMPOTENT.You, Judy, and Linda have provided illustrations of the (mis)handling of God's Word on numerous occasions. Briefly: 1. David on sinless perfection 2. Judy on sin and sickness 3. Linda on her political ideaology

David Miller's rephrasing of Judy's rhetorical question 'doesn't God's Word
mean anything' certainly calls for a direct answer.

jt: Whew!  DavidM has lit a fire under you this morning Lance.. and BTW

He got my 'rhetorical question' right - but you have rephrased it here

by leaving the "to you" off at the end.  It was "Doesn't God's Word mean

anything to you (Lance)"

Yes, God's Word(s) do mean ANYTHING. It is possible that, during my 'tenure'

at OCB, I've seen more examples of the ANYTHING that God's word(s) MEAN to

fellow believers than you have seen in the context of your life..

jt: And then you go on to examine and evaluate every other "so called"

believer along with their beliefs and traditions - what a big waste of time since

we are not called to answer for them or to fix the whole world.

I sometimes wonder if you realize just how much unbelief is present in what

you contribute to TT Lance. If I (for one) am to accept what you write then I

would have to agree with you that the Spirit of God is impotent; because He

can not possibly fulfill His ministry (to lead us into ALL truth) to those in our

generation because "enlightenment thinking" won't let Him.

This being so relegates everyone outside of the teachings of certain "wise"

ones to error and to being totally incapable of receiving anything other than

some blind state of grace from God.

I may be wrong but at this point I think the reason David Miller gets under

your skin so easily is because you respect his academic record so he isn't as

easy to dismiss as Izzy, myself, and Terry.  So much for community....
