Izzy in red:

(1) Do you believe that you are unconscious or sleeping until the Resurrection? (2) Could you explain, if so, why Jesus told the thief on the cross that he would be with Jesus “today” in paradise?

(1) I do not believe in soul sleep. What I said I believe. When I die, I am taken to the Resurrection.

Oh, so you believe your body (and soul/spirit?) is resurrected immediately after you die?

(2) This is definitely a road we've been down before, considering the earlier topic of Greek Punctuation, but here we go again.... Yeshua said to the thief, "I tell you this day... you will be with Me in Paradise." Personal doctrinal bias uses the comma wherever it suits the translator. Sorry, I forgot about that.  Quite possible interpretation.

The point being that just because you can’t see Him, doesn’t mean He isn’t there.  YOU being inside your physical body is what gives it life and breath.  After that it’s rigor mortis time!

Before death the Spirit of the Holy One rested within the materialness of my being. If I die, rigor mortis sets in, as you said. Is G-d still there? As I said, I think He inhabits His creation.  That’s different from whether a person (dead, at that) is inhabited by the indwelling Holy Spirit.  So, are you saying that you believe that while your earthly body is becoming carrion, that you are already living in your (re)new body with a (re)new soul/spirit (all one entity) in heaven?
