I was just talking with a Russian Phd research scientist at a party last weekend who believes that “science has disproved all that religious God stuff.”  He is going through a marital breakup. We talked about Jesus, etc.  We invited him to church.  He said he might come. J Izzy

A book recommendation: 'From Cells to Souls--and Beyond' Changing Portraits of Human Nature - Malcolm Jeeves - editor (Malcolm Jeeves is a neuropsychologist and former president of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, Scotland;s National Academy of Science and Letters) John Polkinghorne says: 'Recent developments in genetics and neuroscience pose important questions to ethical and theological thinking. This collection of papers by experts--more than half of whom are scientists--will be a valuable resource to those who wrestle with such problems. I particularly welcome the book's emphasis on 'duality without dualism' in its account of the human person' A public lecture which includes Q&A entitled 'Portraits of Human Nature..Scientific & Theological by Jeeves can be had through Regent College, Vancouver, Canada.

Good point, Slade. However the mind/brain is physical.  That leaves the consciousness, which I believe is part of our soul/spirit, is it not? God did not breath the physical into Adam, but the spirit.  Do you agree or disagree? Izzy

Then the LORD God formed man of dust from the ground (a package of chemicals), and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (mind/brain/consciousness); and man became a living being (Genesis 2:7)

By the way, I include this as an innocent bystander. I am not willing to enter this debate. I don't have the stomach to battle this one.

Upon what scripture do you base that belief? Izzy
