can you give me an example of an italicized word, inserted into the text in 1611 and quoted by a NT writer 1550 years earlier?

Already did it was not inserted in 1611it is in the greek
MT 4:4 ramati but by every "WORD" of God
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Deuteronomy 8:3  the word "dabar" which is Hebrew for "word" is not found anywhere in the verse.

Also see Luke 4:4 who stole the WORD?
NIV Jesus answered, It is written: Man does not live on bread alone.
NASB And Jesus answered him, "It is written, MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE.'"
Thats it? What happened to the word? Some ancient scholar got a hold of it.

The third edition of the UBS "Greek New Testament," the introduction to which states, "The letter A [next to a passage] signifies that the text is virtually certain, while B indicates there is some degree of doubt. The letter C means that there is a considerable degree of doubt whether the text or the apparatus contains the superior reading [note: "the superior reading" is not the same as "the correct reading"!], while D shows there is a very high degree of doubt concerning the reading selected for the text." Apparently the scholars change their mind from year to year as to which "readings" are genuine; how else do we explain the "more than five hundred changes" between the second and third editions of the UBS "Greek New Testament"?

No kidding. The point (are you avoiding or did you miss) is why did they (Jesus Paul Peter)quote the words that were not found in the text?
They were inserted in the KJV as italics to show (honesty) that they were not in the text of the hebrew but the greek quotes what is not there in the Hebrew or put another way Jesus quoted the KJV!

I write with a big smile on my face and ask this question  --    can you give me an example of an italicized word, inserted into the text in 1611 and quoted by a NT writer 1550 years earlier?

Jesus quoted the KJV  .

I think I will have a  beer.    This is an absolute riot.  Do you have any idea just how silly this sounds?   I am saving this one.    It is a classic.   Would someone tell me how I should respond.   Seriously.   I haven't a clue.
