jt: Didn't Jesus say "If you love me you will do what
I say?" God's anger/wrath is against all ungodliness and unrighteousness
of men - who hold the truth in unrighteousness. Does anyone have a problem
with this?
caroline:
He is saying that our actions flow naturally out of our relationship with
Him. We should not work to prove our love. It is because we love
Him, we naturally do what He wants. If there is a dissonance, meaning that we
love Him and yet are reluctant to obey, then something is wrong and needs to
be addressed. Ignoring the feeling or dissonance by forcing myself to obey (to
show God what a good little girl I am) covers up the problem. Of course,
there are Christians who subscribe to the motto "fake it until you make
it" No one here, I'm sure.
I have no problem with God's anger/wrath on
ungodliness and unrighteousness. Love is holy and when He sees us hurting
ourselves and others, He will shout NO! And God's NO! is very much like
anger/wrath/chastening. I think all TTers agree with that, even the ones who
believe Christ's death and resurrection atoned for the sins of all men etc.
etc.
jt: (re: my statement
that "our breath of life comes from God and we belong to Him whether we
receive Jesus or not.") What is your foundation for this belief
Caroline? What about those whose father is the devil? Jesus
addressed some who were in this category and I am assuming they were
breathing.
Caroline:
John 1:3,4 Through him all things were made;
without him, nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that
life was the light of men.
John 1:10,11 He was in the world, and though the
world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that
which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
Acts 17:28 For in him we live and move and have
our being. As some of your own poets have said, "We are his
offspring."
We have a choice of allegiance. Although God is
our true Father, we can 'adopt' another. To say someone is the "son of"
someone in the bible means he is just like that person. So reality we're God's
children. But we can choose allegiance with Satan and behave in demonic ways.
jt: "Believeth on" is active - it is
to believe and keep on believing... and as Jesus says "If we love Him we
will do what He says"
Any problem with the above?
judyt
Caroline:
none at all. In fact, I think JD, Bill, Lance has
been calling some here to repentance: To believe and keep believing the
proper Christology so that we can act in accordance with His will which
would please Him greatly. It's all been falling on deaf ears as far as I can
see... :-)
Love,
Caroline
